Burr Elm Project

Burr Elm is cut from naturally occuring unruly growths that form on the trunk of the tree - often as a result of stress or disease. The Burr Elm David is using was sourced in Invernesshire from dead, but still standing Elm trees. Challenging to work with, the wood when turned has a whole array of knots, swirls and natural markings making each piece unique. A newly aquired load of burr elm wood has given this project an injection of pace! New burr elm pieces will be available in due course.
